It’s been a long run, and Hagerty’s Lauri Brockmiller is looking golden for the Competition win.
The dark and shadowy figures of Sue Stephens and Mackenzie Woodring are looming, but Lauri Brockmiller got the job done at Saturday’s Peak2Peak. With some great racing throughout the field and a particularly plucky ride from Lauri, she did enough to take third place on the day and move her points tally out to 73 on the season. She’s now safely ahead of teammate Bridgit Widrig, who didn’t race. Race winner Mackenzie Woodring took the full 15 points on the day and is now up to fourth place, just six out of a podium finish. Sue Stephens made big gains as well, moving up to sixth place and six points out of fifth.
Stephens’ GRIT teammate Erin Vicary was the biggest mover of the race, now up to 18th place, up from the mid-30s.
The Iceman Cometh will serve as a regular A race worth 20 points. Like the men’s race, the out-of-staters could create big points gaps. Brockmiller needs to register a few points to be totally safe, while Woodring will need to be perfect to get within touch of second place. After Iceman, there’s the finale of the Competition on December 1, Pumpkin Pie SuperPrestige.
